Circes: New London Rooftop Bar just opened this weekend at Waterloo. Though to many of you regular rooftopers the location may be familiar. Almost 3 months to the day we had the sad news that the brilliant Bar Elba was suddenly closing. The lease was up and that was that. A day after the announcement the rooftop closed was closed.

It wasn’t just the empty hole it left on our hearts and livers; it was the prime location—perfect for commuters, near Waterloo station, and ideal for weekend rooftop rendezvous!

Then, a rooftop bar called Circe’s appeared on social media, teasing us with a Waterloo location featuring a Greek god theme and tempting images of rooftop revelry. Waterloo had been saved by the Greek gods!

I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch on Thursday, 23rd May, eager to see what was new, what had changed, and if we still had to climb all those stairs to heaven. Yes, indeed we do. Golden and orange quotes now replace the bold, Bar Elba Napoleon-inspired ones, heralding a golden era for this space.

Transformed from the party island of Elba to the Greek island of naughtiness with a nostalgic nod to Elba, it’s named after the Greek sorceress Circe’s, who crafted potions now known as Olympian cocktails and saintly tequila shots! She was banished to a Greek island called Aeaea, today known as Elba!

The photo booth, amazing cocktails and shared tables have stayed, in part. One aspect I was really pleased to see changed was the seating. Still ideal for groups, but with more areas set for two and four; perfect for couples, colleagues, or a bestie day out.

There are themed nights every night, including “Brunching Like Gods” every Saturday at £49 for 90 minutes of bottomless drinks, or Mondays with 2-for-£20 frozen cocktails. Highly recommend the Pina Colada – wasn’t sure without a rooftop pool it would hit the same, it does! More on their themes here.

For rooftop bar newbies to this destination, there are views of the Shard and One Blackfriars (The Boomerang) but this isn’t why you come to this spot. They are only visible on one side or if you climb to the secret extra rooftop area! You come here to party.

If you’re ready to elevate to god-like status away from the mere mortals of London, you won’t be disappointed at London’s newest rooftop bar offering. Full details here.
