What Happened on the first World Rooftop Day – June 26th 2025
As this was the first year, it was a soft social media launch encouraging you all to celebrate and share your favorites, your stories. To gauge the interest. Which you did, rooftops did, friends did, strangers did. It was humbling and overwhelming! It showed, the love for the rooftops & rising to the top is real! So I guess we will be doing it again next year – bigger and better! A few highlights…

The Story Behind World Rooftop Day
June 26 marks the day I went in for life saving brain surgery. I was in my final months of university and It was supposed to be the start of freedom, graduation, travel, life unfolding. Instead, it reshaped everything.
Recovery taught me something simple but powerful: how much perspective matters. Emotional Altitude, as I like to call it.
Over time, rooftops became unexpected spaces of safety and joy. A way to breathe again through the anxiety and escape claustrophobia. To reconnect with myself. To celebrate life. And that the sun does shines in London (sometimes!).
It’s a feeling you get, walking out on to a rooftop. Like the moment you step off a plane into warm humid holiday air – where anything feels possible and freedom and fun await! And when travel isn’t possible, rooftops can make ordinary moments into extraordinary memories.
As my love of rooftops grew, as did the number I’ve visited – now over 700. But I noticed there wasn’t a day to celebrate that feeling. Being on top of the world, even when your world feels like it’s falling apart.
Everyone has a story, tragedies and challenges to face. So I created World Rooftop Day to inspire hope, connection and perspective. As life is better with a good view, or point of view! So, raise a glass to rooftops, resilience, and rising above it all.
