While the lower floor is primarily a restaurant, the rooftop is mostly dedicated to drinks and private parties so just be sure to check in advance you can enjoy these views. I didn’t have the chance to eat here, but I’ve heard rave reviews. If I’d had more time, I definitely would have. Make this a must when visiting.

Rooftop review roundup: Open to all for a relaxed afternoon or sunset cocktail, or as I enjoyed—a ‘Rooftop Sunset Party’ cocktail! It was out of season when I visited, so I expected it to be quiet, but it’s the perfect spot for a pit stop in town or a lazy afternoon sipping through their cleverly named cocktails. I was particularly keen on the ‘Painkiller,’ a twist on the classic Piña Colada, with no pain involved (well, maybe a little in the morning if you indulge too much)

Rooftop review roundup: With the motto ‘You only live once, so why not make it exceptional?’ this rooftop bar brings the party to this lively Portuguese town. Enter through the bar below and make your way past the bucking bronco, through a charming courtyard, try to resist the piano sitting there, practically begging to be played! Then, climb up to what feels like an Aladdin’s cave of a rooftop, complete with kitsch furniture and that unforgettable motto. This is where the party begins.

Rooftop review roundup: While I didn’t eat here, I was scoping it out as we had a craving for Indian food. The reviews were mixed, but it really depends on your personal standards. That said, it would be a great alfresco dining option, so I’m including it here for you especially since it doesn’t have a website.

Rooftop review roundup: I was recommended this rooftop bar by a lovely couple I met at B rooftop. I thought it was just for hotel guests so hadn’t had it on my hit list but you can pop up for a drink as a non resident. A friendly staff member gave me a tour, and while the main appeal is staying here to enjoy the rooftop sunbathing and pool, the bar itself wouldn’t be a major draw for me on its own. However, if you’re looking for a laid-back, ‘flop and drop’ kind of rooftop, it’s worth checking out.

Rooftop review roundup: This is my personal favourite type of rooftop – combining beach club vibes with sensational sea views. Sadly, out of season, it closes at 6pm, so no sunset champagne, but there’s plenty of rosé to be day time drinking on the rooftop. The restaurant, which I’ve included a photo of below, is definitely worth mentioning. If you score a waterside table, you can easily spend hours indulging in tuna tartare (which I did most days!), take a quick dip in the sea, and then cool off on the rooftop. Small critisim would be the lack of shade on offer so do bring your suncream. The best part? It’s open to everyone, you don’t have to be staying at the resort. For hotel guests, access is via a lift and a wooden walkway, which isn’t the most friendly if you have any mobility issues. But if you’re just enjoying the beach, you can simply pop by for a drink or a bite.

Rooftop review roundup: Set in the grounds of Pine Cliffs Resort but open to everyone, this spot is easy to find, just ask reception for directions. It’s not technically a rooftop, as you walk from ground level onto the terrace, but the drop is steep and the views are absolutely stunning, so I had to include it! Be warned, though: this is one of the most expensive champagnes I’ve had in Portugal. It’s worth it for the spectacular sunset, but definitely savour that glass! A quick note: it fills up fast. One minute it’s quiet, and the next it’s brimming with families, couples on date night, and colleagues ready to relax. Also, once the sun has set, the terrace closes, so be sure to get there early to make the most of it.

Rooftop review roundup: I came here for my birthday quite a few years ago and thought it would be worth including now I have been back to the Algarve and have a collection of rooftop bars and restaurants for this part of Portugal. And no we didn’t choose it because my name begins with an F! Great evening especially as at the time the choice for good places was limited.
