Rooftop review roundup: Looking for a low key, more reasonably priced restaurant with stunning views then Pelekanos is perfect. (Reasonably priced, was still a lot but less than others). I chose this as a lunch spot for its more relaxed vibe, and it was perfect. I had booked as had no idea how busy it would be and actually it was quite quiet – this could have been it was early June. The food, service, and local wine were excellent, and the views over the queues for that iconic blue dome photo were amusing to watch.

Rooftop review roundup: The Blue Dome Restaurant earns its name for a reason – seating at the edge offers prime positions for those iconic blue dome photos. While we didn’t get those seats due to not booking in advance, I still managed to pose on the stairs for that important photo. As expected due to the name, it’s popular and the service wasn’t as friendly as other places we visited, likely because they’re used to people coming just for the photos without buying anything. However, if you’re looking for a unique blue dome shot, this place is perfect.

Rooftop review roundup: If I had another night in Oia then I would have booked for sunset drinks here but I needed the view of the buildings as well as the ocean. Instead we went for late afternoon drinks and had the place to ourselves. The staff were super attentive and funny and the cocktails were spot on. Fully recommend the ‘memories’ cocktail for a bit of photo fun!

Rooftop review roundup: Whilst in the summer the rain fall is meant to be scarce – it does happen. Shock, I know. You come for the sunset and get rain. But don’t worry, I have you covered. It might not make up for the disappointment, but it can add some humour to the situation! Aside from the cute outdoor area, there are two indoor paintings perfect for posing and pretending you’re enjoying the Santorini experience. Luckily, it didn’t rain during our visit, but I checked it out anyway. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and the staff are kind. We just stopped for a coffee, but I would recommend it for a fun photo.

Rooftop review roundup: The pressure to find the perfect rooftop restaurant for sunset was on. If like me you are only in Oia for one or two nights then this once in a lifetime experience needs to be done right! First up this strictly speaking isn’t a rooftop – it is a terrace built into a building but after much research I realised it was one of the few that offered all the views that makes Santorini sunsets unique. I pre booked and got the best table, The food was good. Not the best I have ever had but far better than many that use the view as an excuse not to step up on their cuisine. Rooftop review roundup: The sibling of Cavo in Mykonos with identical floating beds with sensational views over the ocean, this is pure decadence. In the day the pool is for guests but you can book for dinner and you can pop in for a drink on your Fira to Oia walk and pose on the beds briefly! It was a great pit spot to refuel with crafted cocktails.

Rooftop review roundup: I researched hard for the best restaurant in Fira that would be super special for sunset, with good food and those Santorini views even thought it wasn’t in Oia. And I nailed it! Esperisma was everything I hoped for. The magic of the ocean at golden hour, the built up buildings lit up by the sun disappearing and complimented by exquisite cuisine. I was almost put off by the required deposit, especially when I requested a specific table (which I had stalked on their website) and was told it wasn’t guaranteed since all tables are good. They are indeed, as there are not many tables—this is an intimate setting—but not all offer unobstructed views. However, when I arrived, the most adorable waitress and the MD, Peter, ensured we had a night to remember. It was the Santorini experience without being in Oia. Read more here.

Rooftop review roundup: This was a serious contender for our sunset dinner – it only lost out due to the lack of buildings perched on the cliff. However I wasn’t missing out on experiencing it so we did stop in for a cocktail. The bar is actually down the stairs and tucked away. As it was still super hot and no shade we were happy to be sat at the bar even though it was away from the views. I made up for it by posing after! The staff were delightful and if I had been staying longer would have been back.

Rooftop review roundup: Framed with pink bougainvillea flowers this rooftop is an insta girls dream set with sweeping views over the ocean. It is set up on the main street so below is the bustle of the street but with a table set on the edge you will just be staring out to sea as I did.
