Lisbon is a rooftop bar haven, offering the perfect mix of stunning views, affordable prices, and nearly 300 days of sunshine each year. Whether you’re hunting for the best sunset views or a hotel with a jaw-dropping infinity pool, Lisbon has it all. The city also holds a special place in my heart—it’s where the idea for this website was born. I was sitting on a rooftop bar (that sadly no longer exists) with friends, when they asked why I loved taking photos and had a whole spreadsheet of rooftop bar intel. ‘Isn’t it selfish not to share this?’ they said. So, here I am, sharing my favourite spots with you. Read on to discover the best rooftop bars in Lisbon.

Rooftop review roundup: This is a special rooftop bar spot with stunning views of the castle, a spacious decking area, and not just one, but two bars! High tables and vibrant ceramic blue tiles give it that perfect holiday vibe. I visited in December, so it was relatively quiet, but I was assured that it transforms into a lively summer spot, ideal for watching the sunset and enjoying some fun in the sun.

Rooftop review roundup: Away from the main rooftop bar area of Lisbon, this little stunner offers something special. With two small terraces, both providing sensational views over the Tagus River and the city, it’s the perfect escape after a day of exploring the charming Alfama district. As the hotel name suggests, this area is one of the oldest in Lisbon, set on a hill, so you’ll definitely appreciate this rooftop for a well-deserved rest

Warm/dry weather only? There are retractable cloth awnings – but not sure how much rain cover it would provide. It was open from midday to sunset in December and wasn’t cold.
Rooftop review roundup: A super cute little rooftop capturing the charm of the Portuguese blues. Limited seating so ideal for guests or locals those near attracting everyone from solo book readers at sunset to work meetings to couples and catch ups. A little rooftop bar gem!

Rooftop review roundup: This is your sunset spot for starting your Friday night out. There’s a beautiful bar that you walk through that would be a destination in itself if it wasn’t competing with the views outside. And it’s the views which are this rooftop bar’s best feature. The service was a little slow but I think that was more due to being early spring for rooftop bar season.

Warm/dry weather only? There’s an indoor restaurant
Rooftop review roundup: One of the kindest rooftops I’ve been to. I had hoped the experience would match their ethos: ‘We didn’t want any diners to feel that they were stuck at the back, casting envious glances at others with better views, so we made all the tables equal – they all have a fantastic vista.’ Their old website also stated that the pergola area doesn’t have the river views so you aren’t duped! They understand rooftop bar addicts like me!! The service was superb, the food Israeli and delicious and the views, well pretty spectacular! They were even kind enough to get my an ice pack as those slippery streets had got the better of me! Watch out for those in the rain.

Rooftop review roundup: Open all year round with two sides. One open for all with sofas and a seasonable bar. You can purchase drinks downstairs when t is closed. I can imagine in summer this is quite the chill out Saturday afternoon spot. The other side features the rooftop pool and jacuzzi – heated in the winter. Perfect post shopping rooftop relaxation for hotel guests. During my stay here, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. While the views may not be the most spectacular in Lisbon, this place has certainly become one of my favourite spots in the city.

Rooftop review roundup: As you approach this rooftop bar you do so from ground level which is confusing not to be climbing up stairs if it’s a rooftop but bear in mind you have already climbed the hills! Once you walk in you can see how stunning the views are and you won’t be moving all day!! The word Noobi means ‘we go’. It represents an invitation to happiness, friendship, to celebrate the joys life and to contemplate both Nature and City. Let’s go? I mean do you need more of a sign!

Warm/dry weather only? Yes but there is a glassed indoor area
Rooftop review roundup: I first visited this club years ago, and it had a definite ‘dress to impress’ vibe and one of the more expensive spots in Lisbon. I returned recently to check out the restaurant and I was a bit disappointed by the overall experience. The atmosphere was lacking, the prices were steep for Lisbon yet the food and service was good. This could have been because I visited in December. If it had been warm enough to sit outside and enjoy the sunset with some sushi on a date night, then I would recommend it. But, as it was, the vibe just wasn’t there, and the club was still empty when we left. Again it was December, so it might have been too early for the place to be buzzing. I might give it another shot in the summer, as I remember it being fun!

Rooftop review roundup: This hotel is a must for any music fans. Lisbon is littered with so many rooftop bars and rooftop pools that to stand out you need something special and this hotel has it. Music themed for ‘romance and rhythm’. Everything from the check in desk being a drum kit to the bar having piano fingers. The music mural art on the rooftop and in the bedrooms. The sofas and lounging with a mini waterfall in the pool. This is a rooftop pool and lounge waiting you after a day out that you will be excited to return to! From 7pm the rooftop opens up as a public rooftop bar with those stunning views to enjoy a vino with.

Okah

Best for: 💃 🍽
Location: At the docks between LX factory and Time out market (map)
View: Ships, the bridge
Vibe: Quiet by day, party by night
Prosecco price: 🍾
Food available? Yes
Booking available? Yes
Smoking allowed? Yes
Last visited /photos taken: 2022
Warm/dry weather only? Yes for the bar, no for the restaurant
Rooftop review roundup: Known for being a music venue and parties, this rooftop is on one side of the venue with a glass walled indoor restaurant on the other. This proved helpful as the heavens opened as I arrived. As it’s a 20 min walk, towards LX Factory from the city, it’s more of a destination venue than popping in for a drink and don’t be fooled when you arrive – you will be going into what looks like an office building. Don’t be me and wander around convinced that couldn’t be it!

Rooftop review: This is a must for sunset. When we arrived it was full but we were able to put our name down and waited downstairs in a bar lacking any atmosphere but it was worth the wait. It wasn’t long before we were whizzed up to the 5th floor and sat, on sofas, sipping champers watching the sun set with chilled tunes. Perfection!

Topo

Location: Martim Moniz square – on top of the Martim Moniz shopping centre (map)
View: The castle
Vibe: Fun, chilled, relaxed, hipster, unpretentious
Prosecco price: 🍾
Food available? Yes – burgers, tacos, salads
Booking available? No
Photos taken on: 2017 (info updated 2024)
Warm/dry weather only? No, there was cover but wrap up!
Rooftop review: Arriving it was a bit random to find ourselves at a closed shopping centre with no signage. If I had been on my own at night I would have felt a bit vulnerable. Thankfully we were told to head to the 6th floor in the centres lift. And wow what a view was waiting plus DJ’s, arcade games and it was all giving a super laid energy. Not one to miss and take more picture than I did unless of course, like me you were having too much fun!

RIP Rio Maravilha. If you are looking for this rooftop at LX factory then sadly it didn’t survive the pandemic. Super sad for me as it’s the rooftop bar that sparked the idea for ‘Where’s the Rooftop’. There are two other rooftop’s in the factory now (2024) Under the bridge and LX Rooftop. I haven’t been to yet but including as this area holds special rooftop memories.
