Porto isn’t just about cobblestone streets and port wine – it’s also home to some notable rooftop bars, where yes, you can sip port with a view! From informal spots full of Portuguese charm to classic boujee rooftops perfect for toasting your new wine finds on. I was genuinely impressed that many open early, stay open in all weathers, and welcome everyone, not just hotel guests. Drinking port has honestly never been this scenic! so i have rounded up the 11 of Porto’s best rooftop bars to check out.

Warm/dry weather only? It depends how bad!
Rooftop review roundup: This might be my favourite spot in Porto. I was staying at this hotel and the views over the Douro river were just breath-taking framed by the Dom Luis bridge which you can almost touch! They open the pool to guests regardless of the weather but the rain will mean the bar is closed but this is a summer spot not to be missed – and say hello to Claudia if you do! So helpful and kind.

Vibe: Rustic chill
Prosecco price: 🍾

Warm/dry weather only? Yes
Rooftop review roundup: This is a little gem of a rooftop garden hideaway has deck chairs tables scattered around for you to have a pit stop from strolling the streets. I was confused it was classed itself as a rooftop bar as you actually access it from the street and walk down a little hill but it does sit on top of the museum so technically it passes. Plus has wonderful views. The bar is location inside (out of season) with a limited but good drinks choice. It’s also the sort of oasis out of season You could come, bring a book and stay all day. However in the summer I can see it’s quite the drinking spot!

Base Bar

Rooftop review roundup: Set just a floor up and accessed by a little walk way up this stretches the term rooftop bar but technically it passes!! Perfect if you’ve been queuing for the library to have a little rest and reflect! In the summer its a must for the arty party crew. An ethos of being one with nature curating music and cocktails to match the scene.

View: All of Porto
Vibe: Party fun
Prosecco price: 🍾

Warm/dry weather only? Yes
Rooftop review roundup: I struggled to find Lift rooftop bar so if you have this problem here’s the step by step guide to getting up! Go into the shopping Centre Cantina (you should see a sign/ ad on your left for the rooftop bar), go past MacDonald’s on your left and then in between that and a red phone box is the lift to the car park. Hit floor 14 and voila you have arrived! Sadly I can’t comment on what it’s like as after all that it was closed – no Instagram notice and their emails are slow to respond to! But I am including as it is one of the more popular rooftop spots and someone needs to find their way easily! So if the weather is dicey don’t bother as they will probably be closed. But in sunshine it is definitely a go to DJs and fun rooftop bar destination – I have been assured.

Portobello Rooftop Bar

Best for: 🥂🍹🍸🍷
Location: On top of the Hotel Premium Downtown
View: Porto
Vibe: Hotel chill
Prosecco price: 🍾
Food available? Yes
Booking available? Yes
Smoking allowed? Yes

Warm/dry weather only? Yes
Rooftop review roundup: This is a go to for sunshine seekers looking for Portuguese food and great views. There’s a restaurant in the floor below should it rain but it’s the views and sunset you will come to this rooftop for. The photo’s don’t do it justice as the rain had just hit but this is why I don’t use stock images as you could turn up like this as I did and this is what you could find on a bad weather day.

Casa Guedes Rooftop Bar

Best for: 🍷🍹🥂🧀🥗
Location: On top of their bar sandwiched on a street east of the city.
View: Not much
Vibe: Brunchy fun!
Prosecco price: 🍾
Food available? Yes – tapas
Booking available? No
Smoking allowed? No

Warm/dry weather only? No they have a rooftop cover for when it rains!
Rooftop review roundup: A small but intimate rooftop space. Whilst it doesn’t have the sweeping views of the river or Porto it does have an extensive tapas menu and I am reliably informed it is a buzz on a Friday night. This is also a weather proof little rooftop bar as on a summers night the roof retracts.

Eurostar Hotel Rooftop Bar

Best for: 🍸🍷🍾
Location: On the river east of the bridge
View: Douro River
Vibe: Chill
Prosecco price: 🍾
Food available? No
Booking available? No
Smoking allowed? Yes

Warm/dry weather only? Yes
Rooftop review roundup: I spontaneously visited this rooftop expecting to be told it was guests only but I was delighted it wasn’t! It was however out of season so furniture was stored away and the bar not operating. But that just meant I could crack open some port and enjoy the stunning views of the Douro river in peace! In summer the rooftop is decked out with sofa’s, a bar and all the vibe. It also boasts a different view of Porto to the rest of the rooftop bars.

Terrace Lounge 360

Best for: 🥂🍾🥗🍹
Location: Over the Dom Luis I bridge on top of Porto Cruz’s shop and tasting!
View: Picturesque Porto
Vibe: It is a vibe! Lots of tourists but definitely fun!
Prosecco price: 🍾
Food available? Yes
Booking available? Yes
Smoking allowed? Yes
Last visited /photos taken: 2023
Warm/dry weather only? No
Rooftop review roundup: This is one of my favourite rooftop bars in Porto! Different areas for food or drinks, sofas or high tables. Music blaring, friendly staff, this is a summer (or October) hang for sure. They have a small area that’s rain proof but I love their tenacity – the minute the rain starts they rally everyone in to the huddle then when it stops they remove all the covers and out we all come! The building is also a port house so you can always stagger up after tastings and be wowed by the views directly over to the colourful buildings of Porto opposite.

Warm/dry weather only? No though you can still go
Rooftop review roundup: A little be further out so mainly for hotel guests but the restaurant is stunning so this would be worth the walk for a dinner with sensational views over the Douro river.

Grahams Vineyard Bar and Restaurant

Best for: 🍷
Location: Over the Dom Luis bridge to the west of the city at Graham’s port house
View: All over the Dom Luis river
Vibe: Sophisticated and a little snobby
Prosecco price: 🍾
Food available? Yes
Booking available? Yes
Smoking allowed? No
Last visited /photos taken: 2033
Warm/dry weather only? Yes
Rooftop review roundup: So this isn’t technically a rooftop but it is set up on Graham’s port house terrace – which is quite a trek away from the river round dodgy bends with no path ways. I’d suggest an Uber here! It is in a stunning setting and a famous port house but I found it the least friendly and a bit confusing as the tasting and bar and restaurant are separately run – as a visitor I shouldn’t need to know that or be concerned by it. But this would be a beautiful setting for dinner.

Intrigo Rooftop Bar

Best for: 🍽️🍷
Location: Up a lot of very steep stairs west of the city.
View: Douro River
Vibe: Chilled
Prosecco price: 🍾
Food available? Yes it’s a restaurant
Booking available? Yes
Smoking allowed? No

Warm/dry weather only? No
Rooftop review roundup: This a little gem of a rooftop restaurant with delicious looking food – I say looking as I didn’t actually stay. After climbing a lot of very steep stairs and collapsing at the rooftop I discovered I was 15 minutes early. The lady was super sweet and related to the stair issue but then closed the door as they weren’t open. The offer of ordering a drink or even just some water would have been appreciated. The menu was simple and small and I’d heard amazing thing about the food but I was tight on time so left it. But it was a gorgeous setting with part inside should it rain.
