World Rooftop Day: Celebrating rooftop culture, resilience and rising above it all. As life is too short not to have a good view, or point of view! Launched June 26th 2025! Stay tuned for 2026 info!

About World Rooftop Day
As someone who has reviewed over 600 rooftops round the world, I have seen and experienced that rooftops offer more than just a view. They offer perspective. They can lift your spirits – literally and emotionally!

And if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know I love a ‘day’! There’s one for everything from the classic ‘World Cocktail Day’ to ‘World Book Day’ to the obscure like, ‘Lost Sock Memorial Day’. But one was missing – a World Rooftop Day! So I created one! On June 26th we now celebrate rooftop culture, as who doesn’t need an excuse to reflect, recharge or just escape reality for a while on a rooftop.

What Happened on the first World Rooftop Day – June 26th 2025
As this was the first year, it was a soft social media launch encouraging you all to celebrate and share your favorites, your stories. To gauge the interest. Which you did, rooftops did, friends did, strangers did. It was humbling and overwhelming! But it showed, the love for the rooftops is real! So I guess we will be doing it again next year – bigger and better! A few highlights…

The Story Behind World Rooftop Day
June 26 marks the day I went in for life-saving brain surgery in my 20’s. It was supposed to be the start of freedom, graduation, travel, life unfolding. Instead, everything paused. For four years. And even after recovery; anxiety, claustrophobia and panic attacks became a long-term reality. And I learnt: you can either be a victim to what life throws at you… or you can use it to shape you. Not always easy and definitely not about skipping over the healing needed. Feeling your feelings will save years in therapy later!
For me, rooftops became a kind of therapy. A safe space to socialise. A way to breathe again from anxiety and escape claustrophobia. To reconnect with myself. To celebrate life. To make and bank magical memories whatever life next threw at me and it did! This was just the first of several times I had health scares and travel restrictions. But I found the feeling I get on a rooftop is the same feeling as when you walk off the plane and that hot holiday air hits your face, possibility, freedom and fun. Feeling on top of the world even when it can feel like your world is falling apart.
Everyone has a story, tragedy and challenges to face – so, I created World Rooftop Day to celebrate even the smallest moments of joy and to inspire hope but was also for fun! As having fun is not prioritised enough! So, raise a glass to life, resilience, and rising above it all.
