Size of sunbed area: Good

Bar on the roof? Yes – read my full Malta rooftop bar review

Rooftop Pool around up: ME Malta’s newly opened hotel in Summer 2025 boasts three rooftop pools, is it any wonder I booked to stay here? Though I got very confused about the pool situation so I hope this helps you: One pool is located at their 20th floor Radio Rooftop Bar, but it’s only available for private hire and very small. The other two are on the 7th floor, offering a more open space for guests.

It’s a big shame that neither pool is an infinity, as the views over Valletta and the sea truly deserve it. One pool sits front and center, while the other is tucked more privately around the corner. Cabanas line the pools, and thankfully there are no extra charges for using them. However, if you’re looking for shade, you’ll be as disappointed, as I was, as there are no umbrellas and the cabanas don’t offer adequate protection. So sun-conscious rooftop loungers would either have to move sunbeds with the sun – if available. The pool bar is small but perfectly adequate for wine, cocktails, and a light lunch. A handful of tables offer a bit of shelter, but the intense blaze of the sun meant I didn’t get to enjoy it as much as I had hoped. Even so, the rooftop pool area in Malta is beautifully designed and perfect for those prepared to soak up the sun.

Anima Rooftop Pool

Anima Rooftop Pool

Size of the pool: 💧

Size of sunbed area: Small

Bar on the roof? Yes – read my full Malta rooftop review

Rooftop Pool around up: Anima is the newest and tallest rooftop pool in Malta. This isn’t just a hotel – it’s an experience of a different kind. Think lunch with panoramic views, followed by rolling onto a sun lounger to soak up the skyline! There’s very little about this pool online – I even thought it was just decorative. But late in the night, I saw the dining area transforming into a sky-high poolside bar complete with loungers for the morning. I inquired, and they confirmed you can grab a day pass if you email them. So if you’re after fancy, sky-high sunbathing with unbeatable views, this is absolutely your spot.

Skydeck Rooftop Pool

Skydeck Rooftop Pool At Mayflower Hotel, St Paul’s Bay

Pool access: Guests only unless lucky!

Size of the pool: 💧💧

Size of sunbed area: Average

Bar on the roof? Yes but just small one for guests.

Rooftop Pool round up: I came to Skydeck on the last day of the most amazing golden summer with a rooftop sunset with sea views on the agenda. I saw nothing about it being guest only when I’d chosen it for this important rooftop moment but it was! However it was end of the season and quiet, and the kind reception staff understood the assignment aka took pity on me to end the big bday summer of celebrations on a rooftop at sunset!

With the their rooftop bar closed for low season, we bought a Maltese cocktail downstairs and took it up instead. And it was so worth it. The sea view sunset was a stunner and the golden glow reflected across the pool made it feel completely magical. This instantly became one of my favourite summer sunsets. Reminded me of Blau Park in Ibiza both unforgettable at golden hour. If you’re a guest, it’s a dreamy place to unwind, but head up early in summer as it gets busy (and no towel-saving allowed!). If you are not, it’s always worth an ask!

Rooftop Pool around up: I stayed at the AX Hotel in Sliema for this rooftop pool last visit to Malta. It was slightly smaller than anticipated but still perfect for posing with a Pina Colada’s! The staff and fellow guests were just lovely, adding to the relaxed ambiance. Heated in the winter, this is an all round year treat for a weekend break.

Rooftop Pool around up: Picture perfect pool but as it is open to the public and with the number of rooms versus the limited sunbeds, I would be up early! You’ll also want to check what events are on at the same time as this could be a positive or negative depending on your vibe. But if you aren’t staying here then this incredible infinity pool in Malta is your setting for a summer rooftop pool party.

Rooftop Pool around up: Sat on top of Hotel Juliani boutique hotel, this is a small rooftop pool tucked away from the views for sun worshipers to catch their rays in private. A refreshing rooftop dip after a day exploring the island? This is your rooftop pool, not one of my favourites but the view from the terrace is!

Bonus: Cafe Del Mar

Cafe del Mar Pool Malta at sunset

St Pauls Bay (map)

Pool access: Public

Size of the pool: 💧💧

Size of sunbed area: Good

Rooftop rival pool round up: I love Café del Mar in both Ibiza and Malta — they’re both incredible sunset venues, seasonal hotspots that offer stunning vibes. They do differ for one watery reason though: Malta boasts an infinity pool! While it’s breathtaking, it comes with a steep price tag, even higher than Ibiza! But if you love boujee vibes, a decadant treat or money is monpopoly money on holiday then you have choice! Sadly, I haven’t tried a day bed here yet as it is real money still, but I have been for lunch and dinner. The latter at their special Sunday fireworks party – CDM, complete with free cowboy hats if you arrive early. Read more on that in my travel guide soon!

Bonus: Manta Beach Club

At Barceló Fortina Malta, Sliema (map)

Manta Beach Club view of Valletta

Pool access: Guests & Public

Size of the pool: 💧

Size of sunbed area: Small- average

Rooftop rival pool round up: If you’re looking for views across to Valletta while lounging on a sofa bed and sipping sangria, then Manta Beach Club should be your next stop. The name beach club is a little misleading, it’s on the water but doesn’t have an actual beach – yet it delivers full beach club vibes with a DJ and a restaurant area for those who just want to pop by. Ideal for a lazy work-from-home day just no zoom meetings!
