About Fee – The Founder
I’m Fiona ‘Fee’ Brydon, a travel writer and founder of Where’s the Rooftop®. What began as a personal love of rooftops has grown into a global platform built on first-hand experience, honest storytelling and the belief that rooftops offer far more than a great cocktail.
I spent several years working in TV production at the BBC, before going on to nearly two decades leading PR, communications and digital strategy in the non-profit sector. That combination of editorial storytelling and strategic leadership is what I now bring to building and scaling Where’s the Rooftop® which started with just 315 visitors in its first year and grew to over half a million organic readers in 2025.

There was a period, due to to health challenges, when travel wasn’t possible, restaurants felt overwhelming and life felt restricted. But rooftops gave me a sense of freedom and safety. There’s something about open air, elevation and perspective that brings a sense of calm yet anticipation, the same feeling you get just after landing somewhere new. Rooftop bars became a place of escape, curiosity and confidence again. That insight is what shaped Where’s the Rooftop.

The name itself was coined in Lisbon while planning rooftop bars on a friend’s birthday trip. What began as a spreadsheet, cocktails in the sunshine and the familiar question “where’s the rooftop?” soon became a way to share what I already loved doing most, helping people.

As someone who is neurodivergent, including dyslexia, the structure of the site matters deeply to me. It is intentionally visual, skimmable and inclusive. Every venue featured has been personally visited, photographed and reviewed. There are no stock images, no AI reviews and no half-truths. Authenticity and transparency are non-negotiable.

My travel guides and hotel reviews extend my offering, with rooftop culture at the heart. If I love anything as much as a rooftop bar then it’s a beach club, a sprinkling of culture and hotels with a view! Champagne dreams usually on a prosecco budget! I always say, if you can afford to and it feels right, say yes to adventures. You never know when that choice might be taken away from you, who you’ll meet along the way, or how those discoveries might lead you back to yourself.
Happy travels and rooftopping!
