Paris, renowned as the city of love, elevates romance with its enchanting rooftop bars. Once a city I called home, they have a special place in my rooftop shaped heart! Offering sweeping views of the cityscape and it’s iconic landmarks. Whether it’s the Eiffel Tower glittering at sunset, the views of the charming streets of Montmartre, or my personal favourite, the iconic Sacré-Cœur, these rooftops capture the magic of Paris away from the crowds below. One top tip is the French are very weather conscious when it comes to their rooftops – if it’s even a little possibility of rain many will not be open! Also for this reason, most are summer open only. But when that sun shines prepare to have your heart stolen in Paris! Sante!

Rooftop review roundup: Summer 2025 saw Veuve Clicquot take over this rooftop and its sister terrace (see below). If you’re looking for a fancy setting, fabulous fizz, and even better views, then this Paris rooftop is for you. Predominantly a restaurant, there’s only a small area reserved for drinks and it books up fast! So, plan ahead to avoid disappointment, as this really is a special rooftop spot in Paris, hats supplied to shade you from the sun too!

Rooftop review roundup: If you’re looking for a stylish little pit stop during a shopping spree, or a perfect meeting place for an afternoon of bubbles, this hidden rooftop is just the spot. In summer 2025, it was taken over by Veuve Clicquot, bringing picnic vibes and fancy fizz to the skyline. Next summer will see a brand-new theme take over. And for winter 2025 it’s all about ice skating and Ferrero Rocher on this rooftop! Almost tempted to go back… if I was allowed on the ice (bambi is my middle name!).

Rooftop review roundup: La Bellevilloise rooftop was a spontaneous lunch stop, but we arrived just minutes before the kitchen was due to close. Instead of turning us away, the team welcomed us in, poured us a glass of wine, and couldn’t have been more accommodating or kind. I wasn’t expecting such a cute and kitsch rooftop space, complete with colourful umbrellas and sweeping views that perfectly matching the venue’s chilled vibes and laid-back attitude. There was even a low-key wedding reception happening in one corner of the terrace – no precious pretentiousness here! The food was tapas style and hit the spot perfectly. I’d fully recommend this spot for a lazy afternoon rooftop lunch in Paris.

Rooftop review roundup: At the top of the famous Galeries Lafayette, you’ll find all the sightseers taking selfies without having to part with a penny. The terrace is a fabulous free viewing platform with distant views of the Eiffel Tower to be snapped. But it also features a rooftop restaurant for those wanting to sip some rosé in a comfy chair! It was smaller than I expected (from stalking their socials), but that’s exactly why I run this website, looks can be deceiving! As much as it was more compact than expected, the views were as hoped. I risked a busy Monday lunch without a booking and was lucky enough to nab a table away from the other tourists. The venue did feel a little transient, maybe due to its location, yet equally relaxed and far less rushed than I feared. The biggest bonus? Sitting with a glass of champagne and the Sacré-Cœur in the background, a view you cannot see from the main viewing platform. And they know it, no sneaking in for a photo! Access to the restaurant requires a booking or taking a table, and while the food was average, I would fully recommend this rooftop. It was a special spot for a summer rooftop lunch in Paris.

Warm/dry weather only? Yes – there’s a gorgeous interior
Rooftop review roundup: Opened just a few years ago, this gorgeous garden-style rooftop is a true hidden gem and an absolute godsend for this part of Paris. I’ve been visiting this area for several decades, and finally, there’s a rooftop worthy of the neighbourhood: the Rooftop at Hôtel La Fantaisie, near Gare du Nord. (Yes, I stayed here too – read my review to see if it is right for you too!) In summer 2025, the rooftop took on a Mexican theme, think tequila cocktails and garden of catuti but they launch a fresh menu and theme each season, while keeping the charming garden setting at its heart. The night I arrived, the heavens opened, and I was gutted but honestly, the cosy indoor space felt just as special, with the same attention to detail and warm, stylish vibe. My only wish was they served food as we decamped downstairs for dinner and would rather have stayed in the rooftop! Happily, the sun shone bright for the rest of my stay, so I was able to sip, chill, and relax in the calming ambience they have so beautifully created. Usually open from 5pm, this spot is a must-visit rooftop bar near Gare du Nord, perfect for a pre-Eurostar drink or a relaxed Thursday night cocktail. What it lacks in views, it more than makes up for in atmosphere and décor.

Rooftop review roundup: Maggie’s Rooftop Bar offers some of the best views of the Sacré-Cœur, which also happens to be my favourite building in Paris, making this an extra-special rooftop for anyone who feels the same. It’s an absolute gem in a city where most rooftops focus on Eiffel Tower views. A lovely bonus was how warm and welcoming the restaurant staff were, they truly added to the experience.

Warm/dry weather only? Yes but there is their indoor bar/ restaurant
Rooftop review roundup: Situated on the outskirts of Paris and near where I once lived, it’s definitely worth the effort for a drink plus you can see the grand arch at the same time. Offering a unique perspective of Paris, the rooftop provides panoramic views encompassing Sacre Coeur, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Eiffel Tower – all in the distance, yet creating a magical ambiance as you soak in the scenery. I imagine it’s quite quiet on the weekend being in the city district with just hotel guests but this last visit was a Friday night it was full of after work crowd.

Les Ombres

Best for: 🍽
Nearest metro: Alma Marceau – 8 minute walk
Location: On top of the Musée du quai Branly, in a secret garden. Cross over from the metro and walk along until you find it’s sign and weave your way in. Then inside and up to the 5th floor. There was no one around to show me up and was very quiet so felt a bit odd. But once you arrive they are extremely attentive. (map)
View: Amazing views of Eiffel tower
Vibe: Elegant
Prosecco price: 🍾🍾🍾
Food available? Yes
Booking available? Yes
Smoking allowed? Yes
Last visited /photos taken: 2022 (info updated 2025)
Warm/dry weather only? No there’s an indoor restaurant but yes for outside
Rooftop review roundup: Amazing views – stunning setting but for such a prime location they are missing a trick – it’s only open at set times for set menus. No stopping for just drinks which is a real shame with their views and terrace sofas. I actually didn’t stay this time as was just wanting a drink and as the terrace wasn’t really open yet – so the photos don’t do it justice.

Warm/dry weather only? No but is summer only
Rooftop review roundup: I stopped by this rooftop but sadly it hadn’t opened for the summer yet but they staff were kind enough to show me up and explain what it’s usually like. So I can’t recommend or review it for the vibe and food. However, the view I can 100% recommend. It’s a small terrace that runs round what currently is a conference room – what a venue for a work event But also transforms into a summer bar. usually just July and August. Also if you are looking for hotel with a balcony view of the Eiffel Tower then this is for you.

Rooftop review roundup: Set on this elegant hotel – the rooftop bar mirrors the quality and price of this hotel! Stunning little rooftop, first class service and a rare rooftop in Paris to still open despite rain being forecast. There is an indoor restaurant adjacent that steals the best views but for a drink and snacks then this little rooftop diamond is utterly charming however it is a minimum spend of 60 Euros.

Warm/dry weather only? No the roof retracts
Rooftop review roundup: I spent a New Year’s Eve at Brasserie Barbès over ten years ago – dancing on the rooftop and partying on the little terrace one floor down. It was a total vibe. Sadly, due to Covid, the rooftop is now only available for private hire, but the smaller terrace area (where the roof opens up) is still open to the public. By day, it’s a great spot for casual meetups or a bit of remote working with a view, and by night, it transforms into a lively space full of fun and frolics – which I can absolutely confirm from experience!
