Rooftop review roundup: Twinned with The Seabird rooftop bar and restaurant in London, the Hoxton Hotel has brought its distinct rooftop setting to this rooftop bar in Brussels. High glass windows with an open top, here set with colourful parasols (in London it’s with Palm trees). The views aren’t as dramatic as London’s mainly due to the location of no distinctive landmarks close by. And they are switching seafood for a more Mexican theme with spicey cocktails. The service was fantastic. Our Eurostar was late and so I messaged ahead and they held my table for an hour! I did email with updates and pleaded! They weren’t super busy so this could have been why. Not open till mid afternoon, early evening this is your pre / post dinner venue or on warm summer nights your destination as open till late!

Rooftop review roundup: Tucked away on the top of the hotel is the not so secret rooftop! There is a big sign outside the hotel! Open from 5pm this is a perfect pit spot after a day sightseeing or a post dinner drink. On entry we were asked for a €10 entry fee each. This always puts me off a bit but she explained you get it back against your drinks. It’s essentially stop people going up just to take pictures and leaving as there’s no table service. And we discovered this was a shame as the set up for drinks ordering is dreadful. You order just inside with just 2 people serving and making the cocktails. There can be quite a queue. So if you want something simple like a glass of wine it will take time so order multiple drinks if you planning to stay a while. The decked area is a good size space with a variety of seating and standing options. There’s no dress code so anything goes. It is also first come first gets the best spots! No reservation policy. Despite the drink situation it’s definitely one to do as the views of from this rooftop bar in Brussels are stunning. You can see down into the quaint streets below as well as a spectacular sunset of the city.

Rooftop review roundup: Newly opened end of June 2023 this rooftop bar brings to Brussels magnificent panoramic views of the city, cited for being the largest rooftop bar in Europe. When you arrive be warned on a busy night there could be a queue. But it does move fast. As you enter the rooftop turn left for the sunset side. But take time to wander round this vast space. With decking floors and different seating options you can find a spot for you. Ordering drinks is a bit of a shambles. They say it’s either QR or table service. The latter less so! And we had trouble with the signal being so high up for the QR code. So patience is required but they are new so could be teething problems as its so new. My suggestion is order when you arrive then have a look around or the wait will be much longer. It took 45 minutes for our drinks and it’s not clear that you go and then collect them. But to then sit and the watch that sunset it was worth it.

Rooftop review roundup: Named after the third King of Belgium with a statue of him from view. I had high hopes for this rooftop bar in Brussels as they were great and answering questions an even warned me that due to weather would be closing early. So we opted for daytime as it’s one of the few that is open from 10am! But going that early and also the forecast wasn’t great but it was dead. The buffet that was recommended I booked for was equally quiet. (I had opted for brunch elsewhere and was glad I had. I imagine it attracts an arty low key vibe from what I heard and could be a great little escape for artisans or a coffee if visiting the area.
