Rooftop review roundup: An Irish pub with Thai food! That sums up this quirky cult pub! The Magical Garden aka the cutest treetop rooftop is full of flowers and adored with ivy. This rooftop is very different to your usual classic bar – firstly there are no views but there is a maze of nooks and crannies to hide away in. An absolute delight on a summers day.

It’s not on the main tube lines so uber was my friend and so worth it and this place isn’t just a rooftop on a hotel it’s literally doing good. Reinvesting its profits back into social causes, employing on personality rather than CV to give more people a chance, working with the planet. Rooftop review roundup: Tiniest rooftop award goes to this pub. It also gets the award for a surprisingly pricey drinks menu. Cute little terrace for locals but I wouldn’t be making a special effort for these prices.

Rooftop review roundup: Not the glamorous hotel entrance some rooftops have – this is very much a hipster creative type hang out. Good tunes and a chilled vibe and no ticking clock on your time here. Drinks served in plastic cups but at super affordable prices. And with sweeping views of the city accompanied by a seasonal (currently 2024 pizza!) menu this is a fab spot for the sun setting to DJ tunes. Read more here

Rooftop review roundup: Brand new for June 2021 this rooftop sprung up with it’s famed floral Pergola theme. The main restaurant is enclosed but round the decking is where the true rooftop outdoor vibe lies, with high table at the back – feels like being on the back of a boat! If only we could sail to summer in the med! A great venue if you are in the area.

Warm/dry weather only? No
Rooftop review roundup: Qibo Sky Bar sneaked quietly onto the London Rooftop Bar scene just before the end of 2025. Opening on top of the Dorsett groups latest hotel in Canary Wharf. This promises to be the summer hit of 2026 as it brings with it the manager and cocktail mastermind behind Jin Bo Law’s success. Offering equally stunning views and even more creativity in their cocktails, I’m genuinely excited for this new addition. My only slight rooftop reservation is that the indoor décor isn’t quite to its siblings’ standard of opulence – but let’s see how it evolves! If you get the chance to catch the sunset, I highly recommend experiencing this new high-up spot.

Rooftop review roundup: This is fun with a capital F! Bowling, crazy golf, baseball, a cinema, yoga all on a roof with amazing views. Ideal for groups, after work fun or something different for a celebration. It’s like it’s own little world in the sky. (Oh and very unusually has parking should you be driving). They hibernate in winter ready to spring back into fun and games when the weather warms up – and they have an array of games each season. If sitting around is not your jam then this rooftop is for you.

Warm/dry weather only? Yes so they have brollies & blankets – the great British Spirit!
Rooftop review roundup: During my visit to the Rooftop Cinema Club in Stafford, the temperature dropped and dramatic clouds rolled in behind the screen, creating a moody backdrop that somehow made the whole evening even more memorable. Thankfully, Rooftop Cinema Club has thought of everything, with blankets to keep you cosy as you settle in for the show. There is something wonderfully British about embracing the unpredictability of an outdoor cinema experience and discovering that it often makes the best memories! I mean I may have drawn the line at the rain but there are brollies! Stratford delivers a rooftop movie night with a cinematic feel long before the opening credits roll.

STK Rooftop

Best for: 🥂🍷🍸
Nearest tube: Stratford – 5 minutes walk
Location: Opposite Westfield (map)
View: The shopping centre and Strafford
Dress code: Dress to impress
Vibe: Boujee
Prosecco price: 🍾🍾🍾🍾
Food available? Yes – it is a steak restaurant too
Booking available? Yes
Smoking allowed? No
Lift available? Yes
Last visited /photos taken: 2024
Warm/dry weather only? No
Rooftop review roundup: This is a small rooftop bar where the roof and sides disappear when then sun appears so is versatile whatever the British weather does! The main restaurant is enclosed, specialising in steak and part of the wider American STK family. Both the bar and restaurant offer incredible views over east London. I have been twice, the latter was for an event and the former for a drink. It is ideal for those local, pre drinks before a feast in their restaurant or hotel guests.

The Solo Bistro Club

Best for: 🍹🥂🥃🍸🍷
Nearest tube: Bethnal Green – 10 second walk if you come out Cambridge Heath Road East side exit (map)
Location: Opposite the tube on Victoria Gardens or straight up the stairs to the right!
View: Greenery and local area
Vibe: Great working from home spot in the day to fun at night
Prosecco price: 🍾🍾
Food available? Yes
Booking available? Yes
Last visited /photos taken: 2026
Warm/dry weather only? Yes – there is a fully retractable roof
Rooftop review roundup: East London is surprisingly short on rooftop bars, which makes this little beauty feel like a real find. Solo Kitchen and Bar is right by the tube station, so no Google Maps drama required and as someone with a questionable sense of direction, even I managed it with ease.
Step inside to a floral-filled rooftop hideaway with very reasonably priced fizz and a relaxed neighbourhood feel. Although only one floor up, it still delivers unusual views across to St John on Bethnal Green church, framed perfectly by flowers and the bar itself. Fully retractable, it feels like a summer secret once the roof opens back. Downstairs has more of a chilled café vibe, plus a terrace for anyone less committed to rooftop heights :). I also loved that this is somewhere you could genuinely settle in for an afternoon, whether for cocktails, brunch or a casual bite to eat, without feeling like you’re committing to central London prices.
If I lived this side of town, this would absolutely be a go-to – affordable, easy and a genuinely lovely hidden rooftop.

Sunborn

Best for: 🥂🍽 💤
Nearest tube: Royal Victoria DLR – 2 minutes walk
Location: On the Thames (map)
View: Greenwich and 02
Vibe: Chill
Prosecco price: 🍾🍾
Food available? Yes
Booking available? No
Smoking allowed? No
Last visited /photos taken: 2025
Warm/dry weather only? Yes
Rooftop review roundup: Technically speaking, this might not fit the conventional rooftop definition… however, I’m bending the rules! Firstly, its counterpart in Gibraltar made the list due to its rooftop pool on the top deck, so I felt the London venue deserved a spot, even without a pool. Secondly, it’s an outdoor, elevated space with stunning views atop a boat, creating a holiday-like atmosphere that’s hard to resist!

Bonus: Cross Rail Roof Garden

Best for: 🪴🌲🌿🌳
Nearest tube: Canary Wharf – 5 mins walk

Food available? No
Booking available? No
Smoking allowed? No

Warm/dry weather only? No (has a cover that can be used)
Rooftop review roundup: Free to visit and no, no bar! However it has snuck into this section as it neighbours with Pergola on the Wharf which very much does! This enchanting oasis boasts a diverse array of plants from around the globe, along with captivating pop-up installations and engaging events for children. Though modest in size, it occupies a perfectly situated spot within the bustling concrete jungle, offering a unique and refreshing experience for visitors seeking something a little out of the ordinary.
