Best Rooftop Bars & Restaurants in Cagliari, Sardinia

Southern Sardinia, home to the capital of the island, Cagliari’s rooftop scene is only just starting here but I found some utter stunners for your trip to Sardinia. One aspect of rooftops here I found different was the culture of children being allowed until close on many. The Italian pizza family nights are a thing whether in a restaurant at home or on a rooftop! One tip though, if it is super scorching hot then some of the rooftops may delay opening, though if it is that hot you probably wouldn’t want to be on a rooftop yet anyway! I, however, had a tight schedule to see the city from above, so double check if you do too – or book. The easiest way to be told it has a delayed opening. So, without further ado, here are my favourite rooftop bars and sunset spots in Cagliari!

Rooftop review roundup: As I was staying at the hotel Cielo Rooftop sits on, I utilised the rooftop every day – from dinner on my first night, daytime coffee and last orders after a night out. It was the reason I chose this hotel, that and the location. You can read more about my stay and whether it is right for you, in my full hotel review.

The first thing to note is that the rooftop has three areas: high tables for bar service, a main dining area and, for guests only, a tiny pool and sun loungers. Sadly, this area is way too small for the number of rooms and unless you are there when the doors open, I would discount the rooftop pool as an asset. The Rooftop Bar and Restaurant, however, most definitely was.

I hadn’t booked a table for my first night as I was unsure of flight times. It was a Thursday in July and I wandered up about 10.30 pm to find it thriving! The staff were so welcoming and immediately popped me in a prime viewing spot at the high tables as I didn’t want a full meal.

The disappointing aspect was the wine by the glass was very small measures and a limited selection. The bar menu also, as I am gluten free. But thankfully it was all very clearly labelled. The service was slow as it was busy and they also forgot my food order, but once I flagged this they sorted pronto and didn’t charge me.

But that didn’t over shadow how happy I was, sat with the Italian warm air, city view to my right and sea to the left. And the rest of my stay the service was faultless.  I would pop up before or after dinner was always greeted like a long-lost friend. This isn’t just a rooftop to visit if you are in Cagliari, it is a reason to visit this Sardinian city!

Rooftop review roundup: I loved Framento Rooftop so much I came twice! I first came for a glass of prosecco and to soak in the city from above but then I learnt of their award-winning pizzas and so late one night I found myself ‘needing’ to try their classics. There is a family-friendly feeling and many floors to explore. But of course I was only interested in the rooftop. It is small with about 10 tables and the best view is at the front – so do book and request that if it’s a deal breaker. The pizza menu is extensive and yes there are non-pizza options! The staff are friendly and accommodating – both times I turned up spontaneously. The only downside was the toilets being on a different floor but small price to pay for such a cute little escape.

Rooftop review roundup: Aesthetically coloured in pizza colour of red, this is a large terrace with lots of different size tables and areas. However, the humidity sandwiched between buildings was too much for me. I had arrived not long after it opened at 6 pm so still hot in the city but there was no breeze and after just a cocktail I had to leave. So if you are coming in the height of summer do eat as the Italians do – eat late! And note whilst this is a pizza rooftop, the kitchen doesn’t offer any gluten free options as it’s too small. There are salads and starters for non-pizza eaters.

I was really hoping to love this rooftop more than I did. I suspect it would be brilliant in a big group, late at night after much wine so learn from me!

Rooftop review roundup: This hidden rooftop boasting sweeping views of the city was worth every step I had to climb in this district to get there! With two official sittings it is recommended to book but I winged it just as the sun was starting its descent and woah, it was one of those breathtaking rooftops that gives you a new perspective on the city. Though it was tiny! Smaller than the pictures show but absolutely the rooftop in Cagliari for sunset.

Libarium Nostrum, Amalfi Pizza & Gin Cagliari & Ristorante Pani e Casu Cagliari

Libarium Nostrum Restuarant at sunset
Libarium Nostrum Restuarant

I am including these three restaurants; Libarium Nostrum, Amalfi Pizza & Gin Cagliari & Ristorante Pani e Casu Cagliari together because, whilst they are most definitely not rooftop restaurants, they do all share a stunning view of the city. They run side by side on Via Santa Croce and are street level.

Libarium comes up more than the other two because its view is more visible when eating, but only from the front-row tables. (Which in July were too hot to sit at until the sun was setting!) At Amalfi Pizza & Gin Cagliari and Ristorante Pani e Casu Cagliari, you can only really see the view when you are stood up by the wall.

So why do people think they are rooftops? I can see how it is easily done because the views are spectacular and I do often include terraces like this (in fact I have below) but as the views is limited for most unless stood, it is worthy of a place here but wouldn’t recommend for the view. But my advice is to grab a drink, enjoy the view, take the pictures and then eat somewhere else.

I ate at Amalfi Pizza & Gin Cagliari as, unlike Libarium, I could book online and it was fine. The food didn’t wow me, but it was nice for an alfresco evening – just remember you are paying for the view that you can’t actually see when sat down!

Casa Clàt Rooftop

Casa Clàt Rooftop
Casa Clàt Rooftop

Casa Clat is not a rooftop on a hotel as we know them. You can’t use it as a hotel guest or book for dinner – unless you hire it. And why I am including it is because it is essentially a living room on a rooftop and a total treat for a special occasion. Ideal for a small, intimate private event like a proposal or celebration. Isabella at the hotel was kind enough to let me up to have a look and I wanted to invent a reason to hire it, it was so cute. Amazing views! Though it is probably more popular in the cooler months, as even 4 pm in July was too hot to be up there for long. But if you are looking for somewhere private and personal, then you are welcome!

Rooftop review roundup: Rooftop review roundup: New for April 2026, Nautilus Excelsior Rooftop brings the sea views to Cagliari and I couldn’t have wished to spend my birthday breakfast morning anywhere else. Sea breeze – a very welcome relief from the 41 degrees – the kindest staff and all the birthday bubbles! I planned to come for an hour and stayed three!

It was one of those lazy morning rooftops that, despite not being a hotel guest, you can book to enjoy. When I saw them setting up for lunch, I thought it was time to head to the beach, but I shockingly hadn’t made evening birthday plans. I had options, but I wasn’t sold on one. They encouraged me to come back. So I did!The staff had changed over and the manager was waiting to share his rooftop insights and local wine knowledge, so I was in good hands. He had come from one of Barcelona’s rooftop bars, so he understood rooftops more than most.

Including that as the heat is rising here, they built a glass, air-conditioned room with retractable doors for when it’s beating down in the 40s. I was lucky the wind meant I could still sit outside and enjoy the warm air on both occasions! Just one floor up but sometimes that’s all you need! Open to the public for all meals – but booking is hugely advisable as it’s close to the city and unique to the beach, making it a popular spot for those wanting an adult-only holiday meal. I will be back!

Rooftop review roundup: Whilst Albachiara’s rooftop is only for private hire, they do have a terrace on the floor below that only a floor up still gives a beach rooftop vibe, so I am including it! Famed as a beach club with evening parties especially at the back of the venue, this was a spontaneous lunch stop and sat in prime sea viewing, I could have sat all day with my rosé and salad as the waves crashed into the shore ahead. I was even eyeing up one of their sun loungers but I had one booked elsewhere or I would have. Spend the day or just lunch here or come later for shenanigans!

Rooftop Bars and Restaurants on the clifftop of Capo Santa Elia

I am including these two restaurants as, sat on the clifftop, they may not be a rooftop per se but they feel elevated and have sensational views.

Warm/dry weather only? No, it has some cover
Rooftop review roundup: Rooftop review roundup: I was excited for this restaurant but, as I chose to go at lunch (as sea views are black at night), I was relieved that the tables were under a canopy – it was 41 degrees the day I went and shade was non-negotiable.

But that meant there was quite a gap between the views and where you are sat. Still, as it was remote and the taxi had long gone, I was staying! It was understandably pretty quiet and the service was attentive and kind. The food was ok. I am not a foodie but I know when fish is amazing and this wasn’t. The views were.

I heard that sunset and certain nights are when this restaurant comes alive but, being on a solo trip, I wasn’t sure I felt comfortable trying it. Just a vibe I got from research, but am I glad I went? Absolutely.

Would I recommend? Yes, but not for lunch. Unless it’s much cooler and you are using the beach below. Note: Uber is your friend to get back to your hotel!

Rooftop review roundup: If sunsets could be this stunning and chilled then I’d move to Cagliari! Le Terrazze di Calamosca was a hard choice between it and its more formal ‘Ristorante’ Calamosca which was separate a few metres down the road. I was looking for a calm ocean view sunset, good cocktails and somewhere solo I would feel safe and comfortable. I got that and more. Met by the handsome John, and sat in prime spot where you don’t see the sun drop into the sea as it sets behind the bay but you get the golden hue and it’s just magic topped off with soft tunes. The menu is small but ideal for that sunset vibe. Slightly limited for GF as most are. Some top tips – do book if you want prime sunset position though there are plenty of spaces. Bring mossie spray as it’s surrounded by trees, weirdly I didn’t get bitten at all – usually one finds the small patch I have missed with the spray! And open till 1am in summer this then becomes a lot of fun! All ages, all vibes and the day I went was a wedding party just chilling in one area. What a setting! Not technically a rooftop but it’s giving all the ingredients of one for totally counting as one!
