Rooftop review roundup: The entrance steals the show – a private lift takes you up to a picturesque festive tunnel. (Note this life can be found in the middle of the store) The indoor bar, though small, is ideal for unwinding after shopping. The restaurant shines in summer, with its retractable roof, European ambiance, and inviting outdoor terrace. Winter brings a cosy foliage forest feel and theme. The outside is open but with no heating, food is served inside. A popular retreat all year round.

Rooftop review: You are met by a doorman downstairs – bring ID if you look young and dress nice! Don’t have to dress up but they are particular about flip flops and tracksuits. This used to be a regular of mine before the pandemic as whilst it doesn’t boast iconic views, it does provide a vibe. Perfect wind down after work or pre dinner drinks. They used to be quite different in appearance but a few years ago were made over so actually look pretty similar now. Kyoto tends to be livelier but that could be because it’s the first one for walk ins. Both host their own Japanese (Kyoto) and Spanish (Nueva) restaurants. Mostly indoor these are boujee and intimate with dark lighting, quite a contrast from the rooftops and perfect for date night. A big plus for these rooftop bars is how close they are to Oxford Street and the tube. Why they are so popular with Londoners and could be with you too!

Rooftop review roundup: One of London’s legendary luxury hotels opened its rooftop to non-guests for the first time in 2023. Previously only accessible to overnight guests, evenings in Knightsbridge just got a whole lot more elevated! But we warned you will have FOMO as you can’t use the pool! This is still just for guests in the day! Seasonally open to the public – whether it’s dining alfresco or Christmas in a gondola. Be warned though it gets booked up fast!

Rooftop review roundup: This rooftop terrace is perfect for a quiet afternoon on a warm summers day. It is pretty small in comparison to it’s 2 floors inside that house a bar and Japanese restaurant. The waitress was explaining how at night it transforms, with the help of a DJ, to being fully booked with a vibrant vibe. So the rooftop provides the perfect space for smokers. But the rooftop reason to come here is the cocktails. A pure work of art!

Warm/dry weather only? No

Rooftop review roundup: Opened August 2024 this self claimed rooftop restaurant, just slides in to my criteria, just! The restaurant is currently all indoors, with white linen table cloths and net curtains which isn’t my vibe but for you fine diners, I know it will hit the spot! There are plans to expand outside and the terrace is avaiable for drinks and smokers! Albeit, there is a ‘roof’ over it but no windows and it is on the top floor, not a classic rooftop as far as I like them but allowing! However you come here for the food, not the views. Soon to be awarded a Michelin star (well, hopefully as so deserved) the food is outstanding. The chef, from Angler rooftop restaurant, has set the scene for a spectacular offering for this area of London that was much needed.

Rooftop review roundup: New the rooftop scene during the pandemic as a way to accommodate the increased need for alfresco drinking and dining. Staff couldn’t have been more attentive and thoughtful – even calling the day before with a weather update. Then again, this is The Dorchester. Food was truly delicious. Summer soft tunes played till 6 when the evening live music began. Really was a little taste of summer days and champagne ways. If you fancy drinking somewhere fabulous and a lot naughty on the purse strings then this is for you. For more read my full rooftop review here from when it opened.

Warm/dry weather only? They do have cover and the whole building is their restaurant but that would mean not being on the roof!.

Rooftop review roundup: Once the colourful rooftop of Coq Bull, known for its fun cocktails, this rooftop has now elevated into one of London’s most sought-after dining spots. Reservations are absolutely essential with bookings made months in advance! The views aren’t the typical skyline spectacle you might expect from a London rooftop venue but what they lack in vistas, is more than make up for with our standout dishes! If you’re after one of the best roast dinners in the city, look no further.

Rooftop review roundup: The Eagle has landed! The long-anticipated Rosewood Hotel opened its shiny new doors this September, bringing a prestigious rooftop bar to a much-needed corner of Mayfair. I visited about a month after opening, curious after hearing some mixed, very marmite reviews: poor service, inconsistencies, crazy prices, and a ‘if your face doesn’t fit’ vibe. Maybe mine did, as I had no trouble, or perhaps a month in those were just teething issues. Either way, the prices only thing was consitent the prices are steep but, this is Mayfair.

Once inside, the rooftop is surprisingly small. Beams frame the space, and the eagle sculpture, a nod to its American roots, dominates the skyline. Soft seating creates a relaxed atmosphere, while a beautiful indoor bar just inside provides another perch to enjoy the scene. A second terrace, not yet open, promises to be the perfect summer spot, capturing the side of the building where the sun sets.

Londoners will know only too well that on a sunny, sometimes rare, sunny day, a newly opened walk-in rooftop bar in such a spot will be fill up fast! So if you are visting note that half an hour after it opened I just missed a queue which had already formed downstairs. Hotel guests, you’re in luck: book early and your table is guaranteed. The rest of us? We’ll be winging it!

Rooftop review roundup: The Emory is an elegant rooftop bar with a private-members feel, intimate, exclusive and effortlessly chic. This hidden gem boasts stunning views over London and a seriously impressive champagne list. Pack your savings though, this one’s super spenny. The bar itself is small and intimate and the retractable roof adds to the decadent vibe. While the actual outdoor area isn’t made for drinking, when the walls and ceiling are retracted, it feels like you’re drinking on London’s best-kept secret rooftop.

Rooftop review roundup: This is a hidden gem and a big surprise. Don’t let the name put you off as it nearly did me! I was expecting a small smoking area type rooftop and instead it’s super retro and kitsch! Inside the vibe is darts and casino but step out and it’s full of a gardeners dream and London icons – like they have an original telephone box that is actually a disco for one! Perfect for a hen/ baby shower or just for the gram!

Rooftop review roundup: Brand new in November 2023 on the also newly opened boujee Broadwick hotel. This rooftop gem fills a significant gap, providing a chic champagne sunset spot in the heart of the city. With a terrace wrapping around half of the indoor bar, space may become limited come summer. However, fear not; the inside boasts a stunning interior, ideal for London’s unpredictable weather. Like most London rooftop bars this is pricey so be prepared but unlike some rooftop bars this one brings the views and the vibe. Summer in Soho just got better! Click here for my full review.

Rooftop review roundup: Sneaking in as a rooftop… even though technically, it’s not! It really reminded me Pergola rooftop in Marrakech. Once a set of old TV production offices, Jurema is now a lush botanical haven – escapist chic. But it’s not cheap! They do however run great offers. I went for the two-course lunch with a glass of fizz for £25. A bargain considering a single glass is normally £24! (Note, I didn’t realise service charge isn’t included in that.) If it had been busier, it would’ve felt like a super-exclusive jungle retreat. Food-wise? It was okay to good. Not wow, but not disappointing either and when it’s basically free, we weren’t complaining. If you’re looking for somewhere with rooftop vibes, jungle hideout feels, and a hint of secret garden charm, Jurema is worth checking out.

Rooftop review roundup: The very old-school cool Karma Sanctum Hotel is a hub for London’s creative crowd – from music and film to TV and media. With its rock ’n’ roll vibe, it attracts a slightly older, artsy audience and hosts regular themed events. I visited for their Roast and Rave: ESCUCHA event, which was billed as being on the rooftop but, thanks to the October chill, ended up downstairs. The rooftop was then available after the roast wihch was needed for the first sitting as you’re turfed out or upstairs while they reset. The staff deserve full credit – there were only a couple of them working tirelessly to serve a room full of thirsty (and hungry) ravers. The menu wasnt quite what was listed and the organisation was all a bit of a muddle but still, a fun and different way to spend a Sunday in Soho.

The rooftop bar itself is open to the public, but mainly reserved for hotel guests, who get priority access. It’s a small outdoor space (complete with a hot tub!), so seating is extremely limited. Luckily, there’s also a stylish indoor bar adjacent to the terrace for when the weather (or lack of seats) lets you down. it’s a cute, quiet spot in Soho, but unless you’re staying at the hotel or have a booking, it’s probably tough to get a space.

Rooftop review: I first went back when it opened and it was such a treat as no one knew about it yet so was steal to have a sunny day and panoramic views. I’ve always found the service a little slow and the terrace is small. The main bar is inside but with floor to ceiling windows and a bright airing restaurant and bar means unapparelled views – what ever the weather. And the bonus is they currently open for breakfast. So you can have a rare rooftop morning coffee!

There isn’t a bar – you purchase your drinks and take them up and the choice is vast. From an altar transformed into a craft beer and cocktail bar, other bars dotted about – there is even a wine cellar offering tastings. While the super cute rooftop provides a welcome retreat in the summer, the venue below is likely to steal the spotlight for most visitors.

Rooftop review roundup: A cute little Michelin star French rooftop terrace in the heart of Marylebone. However I didn’t find the food or service that special. The restaurant has been around a while and it feels like its lost its sparkle. However that was one experience. It was a shame they have the awning up all the time though during a heatwave it would be very welcomed not to sit directly in the sun but outside.

And the extensive sushi menu complements the casual vibe perfectly. While this isn’t a rooftop for sweeping views, it’s the ideal post-shopping pitstop after a serious Knightsbridge spree. Rooftop review roundup: One of London’s favourites and most frequented has been renovated and reopened June 2024 to new décor, menu and owners. A softer, classier, and calmer vibe is reflected in its new variety of exceptional cocktails, sushi menu but with the same stunning view. In prime position just on the edge of the strand, overlooking Somerset House, it boasts some of the best views in London. By day sofas to chill with champers or dine against a stunning city back drop. By night dress to impress. This is not a cheap night out at £19 a pop for a cocktail encouraging us to sit back and savour the atmosphere rather than the old Radio nights of shots and debauchery. To note, on the weekends and certain evenings there is even a line so do book! If you like boujee vibes then you may like the ME Radio Rooftop sister in Ibiza!

So this rooftop is a true rooftop refuge. Though albeit not a true rooftop bar as it has a roof but with huge open areas for the windows and perched on this iconic building, I have allowed it! Open for lunch and dinner or just drinks this isn’t just reserved for those attending a performance but for

Rooftop review roundup: Despite 95% of the venue being enclosed I am allowing it on to the rooftops category as it does have a very small rooftop terrace – with great photo op views. Just opened in spring 2022 this is your date night dream. A vibrant vibe, beautifully dressed and an opulent sexy feel – this is a special venue. However the down side is if your date is GF – do not bring them here. The menu is so limited I struggled plus being handed a plastic folder and made to go through it was the type of service I’d expect at a greasy spoon café! .

Warm/dry weather only? No – but yes for the views

Rooftop review: Always was a big favourite in it’s ‘Vista’ days. The vibe is now less afternoon tea parties and more champers at sunset creating the perfect date night setting. This rooftop bar brings the romance to London with unique rooftop views of Trafalgar Square, in a cosy intimate space. Sunset is by far the best time to be on this rooftop, the golden glow across this historic square is pure magic. Pack your overdraft though – this is one of the most priciest rooftop bars. Worth every penny for the memories made though!

Warm/dry weather only? No

Rooftop review roundup: This is a private rooftop terrace but they put on a lot of pop ups – rose on the roof & yoga in the summer to hot gin and heaters in the winter. I’ve done the latter a few times and most recently came to a private hire drinks event. The weather has never been kind when I have been – usually grey and rainy (hence the pics are a little dull) but there is a cover over the sofas so still totally doable. Staff couldn’t be more helpful, as it’s a hotel there’s also a cloakroom and worse case there’s a gorgeous bar and restaurant downstairs if you just wanted to swing by the terrace for one drink.

Warm/dry weather only? No – open all year round with heaters, plastic side sheeting to break the wind

Rooftop review roundup: I hadn’t been since it was known as ‘Toy Roof ‘and seen some not so favourable reviews so was keen to see if they were true. The entrance is wisteria goals – floral archway leading to the small intimate terrace. Sadly there aren’t any wow views and the plastic sheeting round the sides really cheapens what is a great space for Soho. The other downside is the prices – I know it is central London but £65 for a bottle of prosecco is crazy. But this is also a shisha bar with a club vibe where you can buy bottles of spirits, so expect evenings full of party fun possibly a little pretentious. But if you are flush and looking for somewhere quiet in the day for a pit stop then this is for you.

Warm/dry weather only? No – restractable roof, heaters and sliding windows

Rooftop review roundup: Mayfair is already one of London’s most exclusive addresses, and The Chesterfield Hotel has now taken that hospitality sky-high. Stanley’s is an intimate, golden rooftop escape designed for all seasons, thanks to its retractable roof. Relaxed yet refined, understated rather than flashy, it’s a place where the food and drinks take centre stage against the skyline. Named in tribute to hotel founder Stanley Tollman, the rooftop reflects his ethos of warmth, hospitality and genuine welcome which I absolutely found to be true. I loved how cosy and inviting it felt and how warm with the roof open in winter. This could be one of Mayfair’s best kept secret rooftops and I think I’ve found a new favourite hideaway.

Warm/dry weather only? No there is a retractable roof and heaters

Rooftop review roundup: Fresh on the rooftop scene in 2021, this rooftop bar, along with the entire hotel, exudes opulence This is 5 star service and luxury (also at 5 star prices!) The rooftop is divided into the Shima garden on the left, an inviting indoor lounge in the center, and the balcony, offering breathtaking views – through slats. Yes this area holds the views but they are limited and seating for them is limited. However the garden is a Japanese outdoor oasis comes with a retractable roof for year-round enjoyment but lacks any views. In this carefully curated space, a DJ sets the mood, making the balcony a cozy retreat. Our visit, perhaps due to the winter quiet on a Friday in London, was greeted with complimentary sparkling sake – a delightful touch. The cocktails mirrored the thoughtful attention to detail, leaving us wishing we had booked for dinner. All in all such a lovely rooftop hideaway – the service and genuineness of the staff are definitely a highlight. Definitely date night vibes.
