Ibiza is one of the most magical Balearic islands to stay on, and choosing a hotel with a rooftop can really elevate your experience. Below are three rooftop hotels I’ve personally stayed at, with the information I wish I’d had before booking. From practical location details to whether you get bubbles at breakfast (spoiler: one does not), and of course whether the rooftop is actually worth choosing the hotel for. If you love the idea of a rooftop nightcap, pool posing, or sunset views without leaving your hotel, I hope these reviews helps you decide if it’s your kind of stay on this incredible White Isle. And if you are an Ibiza virgin then let my travel guide help you with more than your hotel.

Amàre Ibiza Hotel Review

Amare Rooftop Ibiza sunset Bel Vue

⭐ Quick Verdict

Best for: Rooftop recovery days, posing, pool party vibes and breakfast (especially for those with intolerance’s or allergies)
Not ideal if: You value privacy and quiet or like wandering out of the hotel for dinner
Rooftop value: Great for shade seekers, quiet sunsets and romantic get aways
Who this hotel is for: Love Island fans, Instagram lovers, hen parties and those looking for an adults-only atmosphere
Overall feel: Style without as much substance

🛏 Room Details

Type: Keep the Secret
Size: Small for two. Ideal for one
Storage: Limited. Again, okay for one
Bed: Super comfy
Table: No
Blackout curtains: Yes
Air con: Yes, but a little hit and miss, with no instructions provided
View: Rooftop, pool and sea
Balcony: Yes, but very little privacy as the rooftop looks directly into some rooms
Water in room: Yes, on the first and second day only. There is also a free water refill station downstairs.
Kettle: Yes
Coffee machine: No
Mini bar: Yes, and properly cold too, so you can keep drinks and snacks chilled
Any extras? A welcome cocktail on the rooftop, although there are stipulations attached which rather dilute the gesture. There is also a swinging egg chair in the rooms which seems designed more for Instagram than practicality as it takes up most of any space.

🛁 Bathroom

Style: Open plan with the bedroom – very little privacy if sharing
Shower pressure: Average
Hairdryer effectiveness: Poor
Shampoo & conditioner: Yes, although I didn’t use them. There were no additional amenities. I forgot my toothbrush and was told I could ring down if I needed anything. However, when I enquired, they didn’t actually have any toothbrushes available. On another occasion, when I needed something else, I was told I would need to come down and collect it myself. I was standing there in a towel, so I didn’t bother. It’s just not what I would expect at this price point.
Bathrobe: No, which feels like a surprising omission
Extra: Clothes steamer – I didn’t use it, so can’t comment on its effectiveness but that was a nice addition

🏨 Hotel Logistics & Practical Info

Distance from airport: Around 30 minutes by taxi
Location: San Antonio Bay
Getting around: Taxis can be difficult to get hold of in the early evening due to the location. There is a great little water taxi, independent of the hotel, which departs from just outside. It costs €5 to cross to San Antonio, but be warned it doesn’t run back in the evening. I would recommend using it if you’re then heading onwards to Ibiza Town, where it’s much easier to pick up a taxi.
Hotel size: 366 rooms set across two buildings
Communication prior to arrival: Good
Welcome drink: No
Local supermarket: Yes – around a five-minute walk away
Staff: Mixed. The breakfast team were by far the kindest and most helpful. Reception and rooftop staff varied, with some excellent and others less so.

🏖️ Workout, Rest and Play

Gym: Yes – open 24 hours
Spa: Yes
Pool: Yes – downstairs pools and a smaller rooftop pool
Beach: Yes

🍽️ Restaurant & Bar

Breakfast: The best gluten-free selection I have ever seen at a buffet. Combined with the wider breakfast offering and made-to-order omelettes, it’s genuinely one of the reasons I would return. There are options for where to sit too – a quieter outdoor seating area if you’re feeling a little delicate, alongside larger shared tables inside for groups.
Bubbles at breakfast: Yes
Bar: Yes – downstairs, beach bar and the rooftop (Belvue)
Restaurant: Yes – downstairs and the the rooftop (Hayaca) – though doesn’t open until 4pm

🥂 Rooftop Belvue & Hayaca

Size: Large
View: Sea and surrounding buildings
Bar: Yes – small seating area with very little shade unless you are directly at the bar itself
Restaurant: Yes – Hayaca – beautiful setting though limited tables so do book
Pool: Yes – a small rooftop pool
Shade: Available under umbrellas for the sunbeds or in the indoor section, none at the bar
Best for: Those looking for a quieter sunbathing area, sunset drinks and sunset dinner without leaving the hotel

💰 Cost & Value

Cost: I secured a good deal. At standard peak-season prices it would and was last year out of my budget.
Worth the money? Off-season, yes, if you secure a deal
Would I stay again? I’m honestly not sure, which surprises me as I had wanted to stay here for so long.

✍️ Amàre Hotel Ibiza Review

A few years ago, I stayed at Amàre Marbella and absolutely loved it, the room, the rooftop and beach club. There was a feeling about the hotel that you belonged and were cared for. Last year, when celebrating a milestone birthday in Ibiza, I had Amàre Ibiza as my number one choice. However, travelling in peak season, it was almost £1,000 more than the nearby Meliá, so we couldn’t justify the extra cost. Yet the hotel lived rent-free in my head. So when I returned to Ibiza in May 2026 for a friend’s birthday, I was chuffed to find a much more reasonable rate. Having now stayed there, I would have been disappointed if I had I paid peak-season rates last year. Which really surprised me.

The welcome was polite but lacked the warmth and helpful orientation I expect from a hotel at this price point. Small details, such as explaining the complimentary water stations or the nearby water taxi service, would have made a big difference. So do note there are these things!

I had contacted the hotel before arrival to request a room with privacy as I was travelling solo. I even tried to guess which would be best. While they had clearly tried to accommodate this, I wasn’t prepared for just how overlooked some of the rooms are. Guests on the rooftop could see directly in, meaning I kept the curtains closed for most of my stay and barely used the balcony I’d hoped to work from. I did ask to move rooms, but the hotel was fully booked and, by the time an alternative became available, it felt like more hassle than it was worth. What I didn’t know until I was home is you can actually request the exact room – for a fee if you didn’t book direct. Which I hadn’t nor was this option offered though whilst I realise it’s an incentive to book with them did feel cheeky.

The room itself was considerably smaller than expected and the bathroom design prioritised style over privacy. Travelling alone, this wasn’t an issue, but I would have found it unacceptable sharing with a friend or partner without prior warning. Housekeeping was another disappointment. During my six-night stay, the bed linen was never changed, and even after requesting attention on two occasions, small things such as emptying bins and replacing tissues were also overlooked. The overall experience felt below what I’d expect at this price point.

That said, there were some genuinely outstanding aspects. The breakfast was exceptional. Finally, a hotel that actually takes the time to show you around the buffet and explain the different options. There was also the best gluten-free and milk selection I have encountered to date. The omelette chefs worked tirelessly and always with a smile. In fact, breakfast was probably my favourite part of the stay (yes, perhaps even more than the rooftop). As someone who is neurodivergent, I can become overwhelmed in certain environments. While the laughter and energy from groups staying at the hotel was lovely to see, I particularly appreciated being able to sit outside each morning, mesmerised by the sea. I would often stay on afterwards to do a little work, and the staff were always incredibly accommodating.

I heard quite a few people complaining about the location, but that’s not the hotel’s fault if guests haven’t done their homework. In fact, I appreciated that when I logged into the rooftop Wi-Fi there was a note flagging how difficult taxis can be to secure at certain times. The hotel is definitely that bit more isolated than the nearby Meliá but this is where the water taxi really comes into its own. For just €5, it whisks you across to San Antonio. Sadly, it doesn’t operate back in the evening. However, if you’re planning multiple nights out in Ibiza Town or heading regularly to clubs in the Old Town, this probably isn’t the most practical location unless budget isn’t a concern. A taxi can easily cost €30–50 each way. If, however, your priorities are Café Mambo, Café del Mar and Ibiza’s famous sunset spots, then the location works brilliantly. A taxi back from San Antonio cost me around €10.

The downstairs pool looked a vibe, but I was never up early enough to secure a spot. With the rooftop option available, though, that didn’t bother me. There were certainly plenty of early risers and sunbed towel hoggers! One thing I absolutely loved about the rooftop was something surprisingly rare in Ibiza: umbrellas for shade. I can’t sit in the direct sun, so this was a godsend. Better still, the shade wasn’t just a morning thing with fixed umbrellas or at additional cost, as can be the case elsewhere. Huge points for this. The configuration of the pool area means it sits slightly separate from the main sunbathing area and, as that section was usually packed with dedicated sun worshipers so didn’t use the pool.

The rooftop bar and restaurant flow seamlessly together, although the bar itself offers no shade. I remember visiting last year in July just before sunset and spending most of the evening trying not to melt. And while I couldn’t use my balcony as a workspace, I was able to sit in the restaurant one afternoon with my laptop and a peaceful sea view. But budget for lunch as the food or cocktails certainly aren’t cheap, although that’s increasingly the case across Ibiza at the moment.

Overall I feel Amàre is over priced for how you feel staying here but I do believe that is about to change with new staff and a genuine desire to provide a great experience. Which if it does then I would consider staying again but not high season prices and this time a proper private sea view. And the million dollar question as someone whose been to over 700 rooftops and stays in hotels for the rooftop access, was it worth staying for Bel Vue? I’m not entirely sure. If I needed somewhere to work during the day and wanted to be close to the San Antonio area, then perhaps yes. But for the rooftop alone, I’m not convinced it justifies the premium even with it’s stunning sunsets.

✍️ Innside Beach Melia Ibiza Review Summary

There are a couple of hotels in San Antonio Bay with rooftops, and I’ll admit my heart was set on Amàre but my budget wasn’t, it wanted Innside Melia. But did I? Would I be compromising my big birthday staying at Innside Melia? It’s a comparison I saw debated a lot while researching, so if you’re deciding between the two, here’s what I can share (and see above for the Amàre review)

Amàre clearly has the luxury edge image and the appeal of being fully adult-only. However, it was over a grand more. As we planned to be out most days and nights, with only one full pool day, the extra cost didn’t feel justified. Especially as Innside’s rooftop is adult-only and actually has the better placed rooftop pool – particularly if you care those all-important Insta shots 😉

I was also staying solo for the end of the trip and wanted somewhere affordable, safe but still felt like a treat as it was a golden big birthday. Innside Melia Ibiza ticked those boxes. It’s bright, bubbly, and sits comfortably in the solid four-star category with a five star rooftop. (Minus the extra charge for the poolside bail beds which is beyond cheeky for guests) The location was ideal, it was quiet when we needed sleep, and the rooftop is absolutely the reason to stay here.

(To note, we did have one hiccup that I will include not because I believe it is common but more as it highlights a lack of transparency and accountability: Our original flight was cancelled and our second delayed overnight. (Yes really!) I emailed the hotel regularly with all the updates. But when we arrived very early in the morning one of the two rooms was not ready! And we were crying for our beds and a shower after a night on Barcelona Starbucks sofas (not exactly the all nighter we planned!). The reason was never explained, nor any refund or partial refund for that one room, even after follow-ups. Definitely a reminder to resolve any disputes while still at the hotel.)

Hotel Rooftop Booking Tip
Some hotels close their rooftops for private events, seasonal schedules, or refurbishment. This isn’t always communicated to guests in advance. If the rooftop bar or pool or restaurant is vital for your stay, do contact the hotel to confirm opening times during your potential stay.

✍️ ME Ibiza Review Summary

Some hotels with rooftops live rent-free in my head, and ME Ibiza is one of them! For full transparency, it’s been several years since I last stayed here, but I still remember the feeling of floating around the hotel. It was the kind of place I had to tear myself away from when it was time to leave.

I’ve actually stayed here twice, something I rarely do for fear of ruining the memory, and both stays felt incredibly special. Both visits were also in shoulder season, meaning no kids around the downstairs pool and giving a very adult-only feel. Re visiting the rooftop in peak summer most recently, however, I wouldn’t choose to stay during school holidays. The splashing and squeals definitely not adult only vibes! This was also one reason it didn’t win for my big July birthday even with the rooftop pool being adult only.

The other factor is location. You’re a taxi ride from the nearest town, Santa Eulalia del Río, and about 45 minutes from San Antonio. Taxis aren’t cheap or particularly quick. Nikki Beach next door adds some easy daytime variety, but the music competes with the hotel DJ (thankfully it closes by 7pm). There are a few walkable local restaurants, but otherwise you are quite isolated on foot.

That said, if you love a Spanish town, great restaurants, and Ibiza’s healing energy, this hotel is ideal. Imagine days spent gliding round the pool, relaxed rooftop evenings with a true sense of escape. However if you’re coming for sinking sea sunset , clubs, and party energy, San Antonio or Playa would be a better fit. And as for the rooftop: the hotel would feel lacking without this level of luxury, but it isn’t the sole reason I loved this hotel retreat and not the reason I’d book again.
